I often look at the comments section of articles on climate change just so I can see the sheer level of buffoonery on display and somehow I am still shocked at how much the buffoons can buffoonerize.
peter: *calls tony* hey mr. stark uhhh remember that mission you told me absolutely not to go? so obviously i went there and things got a little messy and i got slightly injured but don’t worry it’s not-
Anyways lmao the iron man movies are a love letter to how capitalism and war-mongering are the true evil in this world and the fact that American fans belittle and dismiss these movies while international fans very vocally call iron man their favourite…fucking means something
ALL IM SAYING is that it’s really fucking suspicious that y’all have painted a character called “captain America” as a pillar of virtue who can never be wrong and taken the superficial characteristics of tony stark (white privileged dude in a position of power) and used THAT as a way to tear down his character build up a dude CALLED CAPTAIN AMERICA when every single iron man movie has straight up addressed how white privileged men in position of power are ALWAYS the underlying aggressors
EVERY single iron man villain has been a white man war profiteer bent on ruining people’s lives for money and reputation. They’re unsympathetic and dangerously entitled. The ONLY villain we had who wasn’t a white war profiteer was vanko and he was painted as a sympathetic abuse victim who could have been just as successful as tony stark had he been born into privilege
Like, these are MAJOR THEMES y’all just sleepin on because y’all see tony being short with Mr Steve “my ideological direction was whitewashed and made more palatable for the common American viewer” Rogers and think he’s just an asshole.
because Captain America doesn’t represent Good Morals™, but american morals, and americans think that is synonymous. We know it’s not.
THATS the thing to. It’s fucking insulting to non-american viewers when America tries to take, just, generally good values and tie it to Americanism.
It honestly reminds me of how men will square up to eachother and when women are like “don’t fight” they’re like…“you wouldn’t understand…this is a fight between men…” Like they’re the only ones who comprehend honour and women telling them “um no, we understand but this is just about petty pride” they dismiss them.
Y’all ain’t “more American” because you have good values and it’s cringy and awkward for people who aren’t American cut that shit out
St//eve: *fucks up stark’s suit to where tony cant notify anyone for help* *removes stark’s helmet so stark can see him ram the hardiest metal on earth into his sternum (unknown if st//eve knew that stark needed it anymore but who cares right?)* *doesn’t take Stark with him bc he thinks it’s better to leave him for dead with no means of communication in a Nazi bunker* *because he’d flip off the world for a lock of bucky’s hair* *and a super soldier (not a squishy human like tony!) who can walk and communicate just fine is obviously Worse Off than a squishy human with: well known heart problems, abandoned w/ a re-fractured sternum and ribs, probable collapsed lungs bc the shield is one of the hardest in the universe, stuck under a malfunctioning suit that’s hundreds of pounds, and left with no means to call for help*
Tony fans: its ironic antis think tony is the overall boss and executioner of the a//ccords therefore is able to take basic rights from them (Read: ROSS AND THE UN). Not how it works, he’s not even among their ranks wtf. Also, same antis love to erase the existence of Rhodey and Vision when it comes to the acknowledging the opposing side of the Accords because they are Obviously Insignificant and Tony is the Evil Villain.
Its hypocritical to say that bc we could use the same logic with Stove Rubbertree, only its worse. Instead of a group of superpowered heroes used to danger, steeb vows for taking away the basic rights of a local citizen who doesn’t want to put up with their catastrophic damage while roaming HEB or some shit. Who cares about their rights to free speach and their opinion on the heroes?? Only his opinions and agenda matter, not theirs. Stoob always operated under the motto his way or no way, no matter the consequence, because he is Always Right and anyone who questions that is Wrong and Evil.
Face it. If the movie wasn’t protected by Superhero Movie Plot Armor and had realistic standards, Tony would be dead, and Steeb would be known as a murderer, the man who killed a hero who stood for the people’s choice. But nobody could ever risk more smudges onto Black and White Golden Boy Steeb’s pristine reputation, therefore realistic standards are impossible to make an appearance in any movie with him in it.
ok, just for the removes helmet part, because I thought that it would come up in the coment above but it didn’t.
Steve didn’t remove the helmet so Tony wouldn’t suffocate. That’s just not his way of thinking, especially not in the middle of a fight. He thinks first about how to solve a problem/ win a fight and starts thinking about the consequences afterwards.
But I also don’t think that he did, as stated above “
so stark can see him ram the hardiest metal on earth into his sternum
(unknown if st//eve knew that stark needed it anymore but who cares
right?)
“ That doesn’t make sense because Tony can see through the helmet anyway and he’s not that spiteful of a person. And he obviously knew that he didn’t need it anymore. They worked together in AoU, he saw him a lot without his armor and not even stece would miss the absence of a glowing think stuck insiede him. The goal of destroying it was simply to destory the powersource and ending the fight. And that was the only thing on his mind in that moment.
So why did he remove that helmet? Seems kinda random. Well my interpretation is simle pretty on the nose and I’m wondering why not a lot more people talk about it.
He removed the helmet to kill Tony. He wanted to smash his head in. That’s the only explaination that makes sense considering his character. He’s been seen killing people in the MCU, he’s a soldier, he acts on instinkts and he fights on instincts. When you watch the scene you kinda see how he gets carried away. He sees the world in black and white, there’s good and there’s bad. In his Mind he’s the good guy, Tony’s the bad guy and he fights to win. So he gets carried away, doesn’t see tony as a friend or even a person anymore. He’s winning, punching his head a few times, but that doesn’t really work. He uses the shield. to damage the helmet, two times and he can rip it of, and so he does that. He can win this now. So he prepares to hit him whith his shield a third and final time. End this fight and move on. Tony knows what he’s about to do and tries to protect his head. And that’s the moment Steve snaps out of it and decides to go for the arc reactor.
He didn’t actually want to kill Tony but he was about to do it. He just started seeing red, the moment he realizes what he’s doing he stops, but the thought was there.
I think that this scene leaves a lot for interpretation, but that’s mine. I think this scene is so important and needs to be resolved in Avengers 4.
she didn’t lose her internship because “her friends” used a hashtag, she lost it because a bunch of 4chan fuckers found out she’s trans and decided to doxx her and harass her employer about the ~image~ she was sending. like this wasn’t her public face account, she wasn’t spouting racist garbage, she mistook someone in her mentions for one of the randos she gets regularly harassed by (because, yknow, if someone tweets “language” at you on twitter, 99.9% of the time they’re not actually concerned for you) and transphobes used the opportunity to fuck up her life. it’s great that hickam is behind her on this but a lot of people are sharing this and laughing at how hilarious it is that “a furry got fired for swearing”, which is the smokescreen being used to cover how this was doxxing a trans woman to ruin her potential career
Context
To be honest, I heard about this yesterday and I feel so bad for her. It just reminds me how cruel people are.
one of the oldest and arguably the most important museum in Brazil is burning to the ground as we speak. home to the portuguese royal family from 1808 to 1821, the Museu Nacional stored fossils, meteorites, pre-historic human skeletons and a variety of artefacts related to natural history. it holds two centuries of latin & brazilian history and now it’s all gone.
some of the things that are now lost forever: the largest collection of egyptian artefacts in latin america; the skeleton of the largest flying reptile ever found in Brazil; the oldest human fossil ever found in the country, named “Luzia” (over 11.000 y.o) and other 20 million extremely important relics and researches just burned to the ground. never to be seen again.
thanks to our government, of course, who didn’t want to pay the museum the necessary funds to make the essencial maintenances since 2014 (which by the way, costed less than a supreme federal court judge’s sallary: R$520 in a year).
another sad instance where the state’s indifference towards culture and history becomes painfully obvious. this is a massive blow to our cultural legacy.
all that in our independe week. happy independe for us, brazilians, who just lost our history and culture in a fire caused by ignorance and indifference.
in case you’re wondering, this is what the museum used to look like:
this is what it looks like now:
thousands of years of culture lost. happy independence week.
“Authorities say the fire lasted for six hours, causing irreparable damage. To put it bluntly: it’s all gone. A meteorite, that can sustain incredibly high temperatures, was found intact. But other than that, there are apparently no other pieces left. It would not be an understatement to call the Museu Nacional the Brazilian equivalent of the Louvre or the British Museum.”
here is some of the international news saying on this, because most articles and videos are all in portuguese, u can check some of the news in english: (here *new york times*) (here *bbc news*) (here *le monde* for french speaking readers) (here *shorouk news* for people who speak arabian) (here *azteca news* for spanish) (here *corriere della sera* for italian).
it was a natural science and historic museum, there were all sorts of important researches and relics. all burned. this was our culture. our history. the first human fossil found in brazil (mentioned above, Luzia) was so important for science, since it proved that way before indigenous tribes existed in Brazil, there were black people.
this is the place where our first constitution was made and the declaration of independence was signed. our independe day is this friday. heartbroken.
