Listen I have to admit I am so very glad we are past the point of Post-A1 fanfics where Tony was this super fucked up dude that never knew what he was doing and always had to rely on this team (the fandom made up because the avengers were never a team lmao) to get him to go on the straight and narrow. Those fics where he was barely functioning and steve was this perfect dude that was like oh i can fix this.
Like people are finally acknowledging Tony does actually know what he’s doing!!!has known for many years!!! does not need other people to make a titan bleed!!! he is sure tired of everyone’s bullshit and has people that actually love him and he knows it!!
Like, there’s a lot of things I don’t like about the current discourse, but at least on that people are finally getting it right:
Tony has always been a badass with a martyr complex a mile wide, but he is not incompetent or in need of other people to function just the way he wants to.
I enjoyed some Post-A1 team-bonding, Steve-taking-care-of-Tony fics, but I do admit that kinda of thing doesn’t work with the original Avengers post cacw anymore. In fact, Steve’s post-A1 fic trope (where he’s the wise old man, the responsible leader, etc) doesn’t really work post-cacw anymore. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth if I see that.
