CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION STATUS.  You can usually do it at the website of your local secretary of state, or at Vote.org.

Anyone who follows me from Georgia?  If not, pass it on.

sigh..  Actually, let me just add, THIS BULLSHIT RIGHT HERE, THIS IS WHY YOUR VOTE MATTERS.  You think they’d be so hot to take away your rights if it didn’t?

If you can register to vote by mail DO SO!!! Not only does it give you more time to research your ballot options, it provides a paper trail, so you can PROVE how you voted, no matter how the Russian hackers massage the electronic numbers.

I’m just super fucking bitter that once the flint water crisis got it’s 15 minutes of fame people stopped giving a shit. The water is still poisoned, people! Donations have plummeted and people have been forced back into drinking and bathing with the water! The medical effects of this are astounding, cases of legionnaires disease have skyrocketed, people are having seizures, people are having weird rashes break out over their body, people (including me!) are having their blood poisoned, and it’s not just lead! it’s coliform bacteria! it’s THMs! it’s all in the water and it gets into the bloodstream and breaks down blood vessels, causing bruising and petechiae and internal bleeding and no one gives a shit anymore and it’s only gotten worse like how many people are going to have to die until people realize this is still a problem

I would like to add that the people of Flint cannot sell their houses, because selling a house with leaded water is illegal. Additionally, households with children can’t stop paying for the water because living in a house without running water is cause for CPS to take their kids. Flint has been living this way for over two years.

The people of Flint are trapped by the legal system. And it is only the most high profile case out many cities with a similar problem.

Because the government has abandoned them, they are dependant on help from the outside. Donate here

If u can’t donate, reblog so someone else can!!!

Random little thought nugget about myself

When I went to tag something about a moustache, I got the little ‘check yo spelling’ wiggly underline but I know I didn’t spell it wrong. However, just to doublecheck I googled it and stumbled upon “moustache or mustache”. Both are correct but with an ‘o’ in the UK and without in the US. Oh, okay.

But then I also thought about how I use “grey” instead of “gray” and again they’re both correct but ‘e’ for UK and ‘a’ for US.

What I’m wondering now is,when did I pick up using these particular spellings and how many other words do I do this for?

someone in a fanfic: s-stutters in embarrassment

me, closing the tab: sorry I must go

Unrealistic Stuttering: “S-sorry I-I d-d-didn’t m-mean t-to…”

Realistic Stuttering: “Sorry, I uh… I didn’t mean- I didn’t mean to do that…”

When people stutter, they usually reword what they’re saying as they speak, and subconsciously insert “filler words” such as “uh, like, you know,” and etc.

*puts on speech therapist hat*

ACTUALLY! It depends on why they are stuttering.

A Nervous Stutter results in what is called Mazing, or rewording the sentence. That is the classic “I, um… well I… look it’s just that… so we…” that @hellishhues is talking about. When someone is mazing their words you’re seeing a form of Speech Apraxia where the brain is having trouble forming verbal speech. This can be brought on by brain damage, memory loss, anxiety, nerves, and several other things.

The root cause of a nervous stutter is a disconnect between the mouth and the brain.

With this you will also sometimes see the classic “S-s-s-sorry…” especially if the person has been training to speak clearly and is now at a point of fatigue or stress where they are not mentally capable of forming the words.

The other kind of stutter is a Physical Stutter, sometimes referred to as slurring, and another facet of Speech Apraxia. This stutter is caused when the muscles of the mouth, tongue, and throat are physically unable to form certain sounds. This is most often seen in the very young and victims of brain trauma.

Sounds are acquired at different ages, so a 2-year-old will probably not be able to clearly pronounce certain words (which is why toddler sound so off when they’re written with developed dialogue). These mis-pronunciations are sometimes referred to as lisping, but only if the sounds are run together. If the person starts and restarts the sound because they got it wrong, it can also sound like the classic sound stutter.

But it all depends on why the character is stuttering!

Do they have Speech Apraxia, Audio Processing Disorder, muscle dysfunction, or another medical reason to stutter? (1)

Are they stuttering because of anxiety, stress, or fatigue? (2)

Does the stutter stem from intoxication or blood loss? (3)

All of those will sound different!

1 – Will have mazing, repeated sound stutters, and be the classic stutter that annoys OP.

2 – This is where you’ll see the repetition stutter, mazing, rephrasing, and filler words.

3 – This is where you are more likely to see starts and stops and slurring of words.

My mum has apraxia and I just wanted to say that’s one of the most concise and clear ways I’ve seen it explained, thank you!

I developed a bad stutter after a head injury that so I’m glad to see a professional explain why OP is a dickhead.

From me, personally, OP can f-f-f-fuck off.

My dad has a stutter that he went to extensive speech therapy to fix so his sentences more often go like this: “I’m going to run to the ——- store for some milk. Is there———should I grab anything else?” In which the ‘———‘ are pauses anywhere from a few seconds to full minutes as he tries to find a word he can say without difficulties or get his mouth to form a word without the ‘classic’ stutter.

I saw a thing that was like “Character A acted like a hero because he knows that he should have the right to go any and everywhere because bad guys show up any and everywhere; while Character B acted like a politician, and maybe leader, because he knows that The People needed to be listened to and respected.”

Not saying that Character B’s description is bad, but it feels off? Rather than say they are two different types of heroes, or two heroes tackling different parts of the same problem, only one of them was considered to be acting like a “hero.” … Why is that?

In the source context, they both want to help people so why–? What is this person’s definition of “hero”?
