while showerheadperc couldve been thousands times more respectful, i will agree with them to an extent. sometimes people accidentally interrupt you without realizing it (i do it all the time), and it’s best to be respectful about it. ask them not to interrupt you and to make an effort to be more aware. if you purposefully interrupt someone, that’s hella rude. if you snap at someone for interrupting you, that’s hella rude. if you want respect, you gotta give it back.
if someone accidentally steps on my foot and i say “don’t step on my foot”, the correct response is for them to say “oh, sorry, was an accident” and then we’re good. if they get pissed at me for speaking up about them doing it – then THEY’RE the one not respecting ME.
(the op said nothing about “snapping”. if you do smth wrong, accidentally or not, it’s not rude for the person you wronged to correct you.)

I really appreciate how it was formatted as “this is a common problem, here is a solution to try in your own work” and not “oh god, don’t do that!” without any extra help. And I extra appreciated the “don’t rely on adverbs” bit, because they do have their place but they aren’t the only way actions can be emphasized.

And it’s not even just those three, I’ve read so many stories of underage BLACK BOYS and BLACK GIRLS getting arrested and sent to jail on any false charge from sexual assault (which they couldn’t prove) to thievery. And it breaks my heart because as a black person, we always are looked on suspiciously when all we’re doing is trying to live like everyone else. It’s tiring and it’s easy to say “fuck all of y’all” and get all militantly angry. Makes me realize how strong activists back before my time was when no one was thinking we should have any rights. And in 2018, going on 2019, we still gotta deal with this. It’s so tiring. I’m past the point of anger, it’s just tiring!
