18 years ago Erykah Badu released a video for her song “Bag Lady”, a song about women who have held onto their emotional baggage. Women you’ve let hurt and heartbreak impede them from moving on, evolving, and loving themselves. This still applies to women today, but this is the year of change! Let us not hold onto burdens of the past, and let’s start to look towards the blessings of the future. I want women in general to start loving & uplifting one another, we are all one! No woman is less worthy than the woman next to her. This message speaks volumes, and the video is more than aesthetically pleasing. I reenacted this genius concept as my first creative directing project. Though it was not easy, with the help of my closest friends and family, I was able to create the Bag Lady Project. Dedicated to Erykah Badu. We are women who are IN OUR BAG. Let’s stay in control & focused, and continuously be on our grind/hustle! “All you must hold onto, is you” – @erykahbadu Creative directing: yours truly🙏🏾 Styling: @milohundo & I MUA: @beatbybeth Photographer: @the_only_jules Models: @marvelnash @s0fa__ @milohundo @bethanybarrant & I #blackgirlmagic #blackexcellence #ErykahBadu #BlackWomenEmpowerment #InMyBag2018 #Models #Modeling #Photography #FarOutFotoBoston #Looks #Styles #TheBagLadyProject Follow my Instagram for more! @maxinepearl_
