Hi. This is just a suggestion but could we please stop calling Shuri the ‘next Tony Stark’ or ‘as smart as Tony Stark’ or really, anything to do with Tony? Shuri is Shuri. She is smart because of herself and the technology her land has created around her, the knowledge she learnt from her people, and her own creativity. Shuri is the first Shuri and NOT the next anyone else. Let’s not do this.
“Yep, Tony Stark leaves a 15-year-old kid with a multimillion-dollar technologically advanced super-suit — complete with “Instant Kill Mode” — without any guidance or support. I’m having trouble thinking of anything more irresponsible,“
Can I just talk about why this particular complaint is dumber than shit. First of all Instant Kill Mode wasn’t supposed to be accessible to Peter until he was older. That was the entire point of the training wheels protocol not allowing Peter to access the more dangerous parts of the suit.
He also shows up when shit goes wrong so while he isn’t really offering guidance he is there to show support when Peter needed help. Honestly did you even watch the movie.
Also instant kill mode, was a running gag. It’s a joke guys, it’s supposed to be funny, not make out a character to be evil. Please chill.
But honestly, I’m not glad that Vulture brings that up, and compare his villainy of illegally selling weapons to arm dealers to Stark Industries who only contracted their weapons to the US Military, like there is a huge difference. Of course they’re all weapons in the end and Obadiah Stane had made under the table deal and sold SI weapons to the terrorists, and like the gifs shown above Tony had taken full responsibility and shut down their weapons manufacturing division.
The thing is, Vulture brings up this technically unfair comparison and shifts the attention onto Tony, the reason he brings that up is to say look I’m selling weapons Stark was also selling weapons so see, I’m not so bad! And if you want to blame me you have to blame him too! (but the thing is he is selling weapons to criminals and he has no remorse and he’s not planning on stopping, this is why he is the villain and Tony is not) but like you know how gullible people can be, how quick they can jump to conclusion without actually possess some critical thinking skills or remembering the details from previous film (esp like Iron Man was 9 years ago) and they’ll be like yes he has a point! Tony is not so different from him and come to think of it Tony is actually the villain here!!!!!! You see how this Tony Stark blame game ship sails, with each movies, the villain just add another sin Tony did not commit under his name, and now leads to people saying Tony creates most of the villains in MCU therefore he is the Real Villain, when the truth is, villains have no one else to blame but themselves for becoming villains, because you always have a choice no matter what tragic backstory you have, to quote Daredevil here, “Everybody’s lost someone. Doesn’t mean you have to do this.”
No, that’s not true. I love her as a background character? But I can’t really accept her as this whole amazing relationship that MCU pretended she and Tony had? I mean I swear every movie it seems like she’s threatening to quit or “can’t handle” tony anymore and that got old really quickly for me. But you know that’s just MCU forcing a romance where it doesn’t belong/is carried out awkwardly (cough. Bruce/Natasha. Cough Wanda/Vision)
So while the idea of pepper being a no nonsense assistant that loves tony and deals with his shenanigans is great fine… I just don’t have room in my fics for her as a main character. And since I write a lot of AUs or post CACW she just doesn’t fit in.
So in my stories she is just a background character if she is there at all
Before we shout “no more man movies!” after seeing Wonder Woman, don’t forget men of color don’t have a lot of representation either. So supporting Aquaman, Black Pather, Cyborg, and Miles Morales movies does not make you less feminist.
White feminism always forget about men of color and even women of color.
We should shout “BETTER MAN MOVIES” instead. Men with feelings, men who are sensitive, men who are gay, of color, multinational, multilingual. More movies about complex men and complex women.
“you only talk about tony stark! he’s not the only character with problems!”
geez, tiffany!!!!! its almost like!!!!! tony stark’s my favorite character!!!!! and i pay super close attention to him!!!!! and therefore notice!!!!! a lot about his character!!!!! and how marvel and this fucking!!!!! fandom treats him!!!!!
